IMEP CONFERENCE 2026
The Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation Practitioners (IMEP) is now accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations for the 2nd Annual Conference and Expo, to be held in Accra, Ghana, from 2–4 December 2026. Authors are invited to submit abstracts aligned with the conference theme: “Monitoring and Evaluation: Leading the Path Toward Equity and Sustainable Development.”
IMEP Conference 2026 explores how the diversity of research methodologies, approaches, traditions, and cultural perspectives contributes to innovation in Monitoring and Evaluation practice and policy, and how these innovations support equitable and sustainable development at local, regional, national, and international levels. Researchers, scholars, practitioners, and students are encouraged to submit abstracts under the presentation categories outlined below.
- ORAL PAPER PRESENTATION
Oral paper presentations may be authored by an individual or a group of authors. Submitted abstracts must align with the main conference theme and be clearly linked to one or more of the conference sub-themes. Accepted oral papers will be organized into parallel thematic sessions based on these sub-themes.
Abstracts for oral presentations must not exceed 350 words. Detailed abstract requirements are outlined below.
Abstract Structure
Abstracts must follow the structure below (except for case reports):
• Introduction and Aims
• Methods
• Results
• Discussion and Conclusion
• Monitoring and Evaluation Lessons Learnt
For Case Reports ONLY, use the following structure:
• Introduction
• Case Summary
• Conclusion
• Monitoring and Evaluation Lessons Learnt
- POSTER PRESENTATION
Poster presentations may be prepared by an individual or a group of authors and will be displayed on portable poster boards during the conference. Authors may be required to be present at designated times to discuss their work and respond to questions from participants.
To apply for a poster presentation, authors must submit an abstract of no more than 350 words, aligned with the conference theme and sub-themes.
- WORKSHOPS
Workshops are self-organized, interactive sessions comprising one or more presentations relevant to the conference theme and/or sub-themes. Workshops should encourage active participation, discussion, and knowledge exchange among participants.
Workshops may focus on:
• Capacity-building or training on a specific topic; and/or
• Establishing interest groups or networks for future collaboration.
Applicants proposing a workshop must submit an abstract of no more than 500 words, clearly describing the session content, objectives, and delivery approach, including pedagogical methods.
SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
All abstracts must be relevant to the central conference theme and/or its sub-themes. Preference will be given to submissions that demonstrate a strong and explicit link to the theme and sub-themes.
Each author may submit a maximum of three (3) abstracts, as follows:
• One (1) abstract as main author; and
• Two (2) abstracts as co-author.
All abstracts must be submitted through the official abstract submission system. Receipt of submissions will be acknowledged within 24 hours.
Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by an international panel of reviewers. Authors will be notified of decisions by 1 October 2026 via the email address provided during submission. If no confirmation of receipt is received within seven (7) days, authors should contact the Abstract Secretariat info.imepghana@gmail.com.
CONFERENCE SUB-THEMES
Abstracts should align with one or more of the following sub-themes:
• Health and Environment
• Business and Commerce
• Sports and Exercise
• Law and Ethics
• Education and Research
Submissions may also address these cross-cutting contexts:
• Monitoring and Evaluation research, policy, practice, or education across national, social, cultural, disciplinary, and professional boundaries
• Impact and effectiveness of M&E research and practice
• History and professional identity of Monitoring and Evaluation
• Theoretical foundations of M&E and M&E research
• Linking M&E research and practice, including co-creation of knowledge
• Methodological development, innovation, and capacity building in social research
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• The decision of the Review Panel regarding acceptance is final.
• While authors may indicate a preference for oral or poster presentation, the Review Panel reserves the right to assign an alternative format.
• All presenting authors must register as conference delegates without exception. Submission of an abstract confirms the author’s availability to attend and pay the conference registration fee.
• The conference registration fee is Five Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHC 550.00).
• Details regarding presentation duration, session scheduling, and poster specifications will be communicated in acceptance notifications issued by mid-October 2026 or earlier.
• If an accepted abstract cannot be presented, the Conference Office must be notified in writing in advance to maintain the professionalism of the event.
• The Review Panel reserves the right to accept or reject abstracts, assign presentation formats, and allocate abstracts to appropriate sessions.
DECLARATION OF CONSENT TO PUBLICATION AND COPYRIGHT ASSIGNMENT
By submitting an abstract, authors collectively confirm that the information provided is accurate and final and acknowledge that the abstract cannot be modified after submission. Submission constitutes consent for publication of the abstract in conference materials, including the conference website, programme, and promotional outputs.
The submitting author warrants that they hold the necessary rights to all submitted content and that publication does not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights. Authors grant the Conference Office a royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, publish, translate, distribute, and display the content. The Conference Office reserves the right to remove any abstract that does not comply with these conditions.
The corresponding author is responsible for informing all co-authors of the submission status and any related communications.
